The Big Read

The Big Read project started three years ago here in our own Diocese encouraging us to read the Bible together. The project became a national event last year following on from the success of what happened here in  the north east.

The Big Read 2012 will be focusing upon the gospel of Mark and makes use of Bishop Tom Wright's book Lent for Everyone: Mark. The book has been written specially for this year's Big Read and is the same style as his previous two books based on Matthew and Luke.

There is a website dedicated to The Big Read to suggest different ways of taking part.

It offers help and guidance about meeting together in housegroups to read the Bible, making use of Tom Wright's Mark for Lent with opportunities to go much bigger and much more creative and join in online (inter)nationally. From quiet sitting rooms with Bibles and books, to coffee shops and internet chatrooms across the world.
